Out of the Fire

Out of the Fire
St Paul’s Cathedral,  2016

Hara Clark worked alongside Lai Couto in creating this temporary exhibition to mark the 350 year anniversary since the Great Fire of London the exhibition focuses on the cathedral before, during and after The Great Fire of London. Including a collection of scorched pre-Fire artefacts from the medieval church as wells the pen knife and measuring stick used by Sir Christopher Wren during the rebuild and explores the challenges faced with his radical design.

We devised a system of bespoke lightboxes, supported by a simple framework, fixed to the historic railings of the crypt. These told the story with images and text, divided into 3 sections – the previous Medieval church, the Great Fire of London, and the design building current by Sir Christopher Wren.  Objects from the Cathedral’s archive were displayed in bespoke showcases integrated into the display.
